Rev. Tyson recently graduated from seminary at Perkins School of Theology, SMU and was commissioned toward elder orders at the 2005 Texas Annual Conference. During seminary, Mike served as an associate pastor at Lovers Lane UMC in Dallas, working in the areas of missions/outreach and evangelism.  Before entering seminary, Mr. Tyson worked in banking and business in the Houston area. Mike was an active member of St. Luke’s UMC in Houston, especially in the areas of youth ministry and administration.  Mike is married to Michele Tyson, a CPA, and they have three children - Graham, Claire, and Grace.
