The Chapel Choir
The FUMC Chapel Choir serves our 8:15 a.m. Henderson Chapel service on a weekly basis (typically excluding the month of July). Having been formed fairly recently, the choir is a small, chamber-style choral ensemble (usually 12-16 voices) which sings 2-part mixed, SAB and SATB arrangements of various styles. The ensemble performs one full-length anthem weekly, as well as providing introits, choral "Amens" and other service music for each service.

The Chapel Choir is open to all interested parties aged Senior High School and beyond. No auditions are required for membership, but it is expected that all participants will share a mutual commitment to the responsibilities of membership.

The Chapel Choir regularly rehearses along with the Chancel Choir on Wednesday evenings, 6:45 p.m.-8:15 p.m., August - June, in the Choir Room. Child care is provided for all rehearsals and services.

Chancel Choir
The FUMC Chancel Choir is the flagship ensemble of our choral music ministry. Having served FUMC faithfully for generations, the choir has a long and distinguished performance history. The ensemble presently serves our 10:30 a.m. Sanctuary service on a weekly basis (typically excluding the month of July). The choir sings literature of various styles, but primarily focuses on standard liturgical music, including music of past masters of the art (Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms), as well as more contemporary fare (e.g. Rutter, Pinkham, Butler, Leavitt, etc.). The ensemble performs one full-length anthem weekly, as well as providing introits, choral "Amens" and other service music for each service.

The Chancel Choir is open to all interested parties aged Senior High School and beyond. No auditions are required for membership, but it is expected that all participants will share a mutual commitment to the responsibilities of membership.

The Festival Chorus
The FUMC Festival Chorus represents the combined efforts of our Chapel and Chancel Choirs to service the great "Festival" seasons and days of the liturgical year (e.g. Advent, Easter, etc.). The Festival Chorus is augmented by other members who want to sing at the pinnacle points of the church year, but who desire a less intense participatory option than the weekly commitments the Chapel or Chancel Choirs demand.

The Festival Chorus is typically active just before and during the seasons of Advent and Lent/Easter, but also at other "high" points of the church year. The ensemble usually performs complete "works," in addition to festival anthems. Past performances include music as diverse in style as Messiah, the Vivaldi Gloria, the John Rutter Gloria and Requiem, the Daniel Pinkham Christmas Cantata, etc. Festival Chorus performances generally feature full orchestration, where appropriate. The          FUMC Festival Chorus is open to all interested parties aged Senior High School and beyond. No auditions are required for membership, but it is expected that all participants will share a mutual commitment to the responsibilities of membership.

There are no "regular" rehearsal times for the Festival Chorus, as rehearsals vary with the season and calendar. For more information, e-mail rgreen@lufkinfirst.com
