General Fund
The General Operating
fund of First United Methodist Church pays for the
general operations and ministries of the church.
Though this fund may not sound to exciting, it is the
heart of our church and covers not only keeping the
lights on, the yard mowed, and salaries paid, but it
also pays for the programs of the church like Missions
(both local, national, and global) Worship, Sunday
School, Music ministry, Education, Recreation,
Children and Youth programs, and many many others.
Memorials
Donations to this ongoing
fund often allow the Church to meet someone's special
needs or assist the ministries of the Church. These
donations are often made in memory of those who've
gone before us and honor their lives and spiritual
contributions.
Nothing
But Nets
Malaria kills more than 1
million children in Africa every year. For $10 you can
buy a net that will be distributed to a family along
with information on how to use it. The Texas Annual
Conference of The United Methodist Church has pledged
to raise $1 million by the end of 2008. All nets
purchased through our conference office will be sent
to aid the people of Cote d'Ivoire. Additionally, the
Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is matching every
Nothing But Nets donation dollar-for-dollar, so if you
buy one, you’re really buying two. Buy a net, Save a
life!
Please give generously and
remember that 100% of what you give will go to the
purchase of nets, there is no administrative cost for
this program.
