Did you know there is a secret clubhouse just
for boys? It's a real and very old log cabin right here in
Lufkin. The front door is made of logs and sometimes it takes two
boys just to open it. Inside you can find hints that boys have used
this place for many years-- flags and banners with ribbons that tell of
their accomplishments, old blocks of wood that they carved and painted,
pieces of rope with many different knots in them, outdoor cooking and
camping supplies, pieces of a track where wooden cars raced, and much
more. Want to come explore? The clubhouse is partly
hidden and surrounded by the buildings of a large church. You will
find Cub Scouts there on Tuesday evenings beginning at about 6:15
pm. Click here for a map to
this secret location (a blue cross marks the spot).
Cub Scouts are boys in 1st through 5th grade. You can join at any time and parents are encouraged to come along (a parent or guardian is required to attend with 1st graders). For more information, call the Cub Master, David Turner, at 936-634-3888.
